Much of this was influenced and guided by A.A.'s friends in the Corrections field - some who have served A.A. as trustees of it's General Service Board. Among the trustees have been Austin MacCormick, a former Commissioner of Corrections and a Professor of Criminology at Berkley, as well as Amos Reed who served numerous US states as their Commissioner of Corrections.
Also notable among AA's early friends was warden Clinton Duffy, the warden of San Quentin Prison in San Francisco, CA. who turned the recidivism rate for alcoholic prisoners from 80% to 20% in that facility after he began that facilities cooperation with A.A.
